WELCOME TO AREPERA LA CARAJITA in Tenerife!

I know that this is a burger blog, but today I’ll present you a new kind of “burger”. If I can call this a burger...

It’s called AREPA and is one of the best dishes I have tasted during these months I am spending in Tenerife…I couldn’t help share this experience with you!

It consists of a flatbread made of ground maize dough or cooked flour served with various accompaniments, the most common are cheese and avocado but can be also added meat, that can be fried or baked. This dish has its roots in Latin America between countries like Venezuela, Colombia and Panama where it is typical and a country’s symbol. However, due to the Latin American emigration to Canarias’ Islands, it has also become a typical food here.

Specifically in Tenerife, there are a lot of places you can visit from the north to the south of this volcanic island. In the south you have the best sandy beaches of the island like Los Gigantes, Playa de Las Americas, Costa Adeje and Güímar. On the other hand, the north is also full of beautiful and breath-taking landscapes where the main character is Mount Teide, the volcano that is the highest place of Spain which has a charming climb to its top, Puerto de la Cruz, a resort where you can find the most beautiful dark-sanded beaches, and at last the charming Valley of La Orotava, which remains faithful to its origin.

In the north, particularly in Puerto De La Cruz, the best place where you can have a tasteful and delicious arepa is Arepera La Carajita, a Latin American restaurant with typical Latin food.

Arepera La Carajita

Working since 1985, you can find this restaurant in Calle Cooperativa, 11, 38400 Puerto de la Cruz opened from Monday to Sunday (12pm – 12am) with prices starting on €2.

Come, taste and share your experience!
